Supporting New Forms of Civic Engagement

With support from the USAID Civil Society Engagement Program, student-led NGO Tsertili is working to amplify students’ voices and engage them in public discourse on important issues.

During its six-month project, Tsertili used creative methods to offer young citizens opportunities for networking and discussing social issues. One of the project’s greatest successes was its comedy nights, which were widely attended by more than 600 attendees and covered important social issues through an interactive and comedic lens. In total, 10 comedy shows were held in the cities of Tbilisi, Batumi, and Kutaisi. Other activities put on by Tsertili include two public debates and a discussion of public issues (i.e., defense system reform, labor rights, resettlement policy), as well as movie screenings.
