New Opportunity! Centers for Civic Engagement Internship Program

The Network of Centers for Civic Engagement (NCCE) is pleased to announce the Centers for Civic Engagement (CCE) Internship Program.  The internship will afford university students and young professionals an opportunity to directly participate in the CCE mission — to provide a neutral and accessible space for democratic dialogue across Georgia.

Since 2011, CCEs have operated in ten regional cities across Georgia to provide neutral and accessible space for democratic dialogue among citizens.  CCEs are currently supported by the USAID project, Advancing CSO Capacities and Engaging Society for Sustainability (ACCESS), and implemented by the East-West Management Institute.  Each CCE is equipped with tailored community resources (conference and meeting room, computer lab, and library) and knowledgeable staff.  Most recently, CCEs played an integral part during the democratic process through their Election Media Centers that improved information access to citizens and sought to empower more knowledgeable voters.  Information on CCEs may be found at www.cce.ge.

The inaugural CCE Internship Program will take place in three CCEs: Gori, Marneuli, and Rustavi.  Interested applicants should apply to one CCE location and clearly note the location in the cover letter.  The internship will start on November 21, 2016 and end in February 2017, and will be part-time and unpaid.  In addition to substantive daily responsibilities, the internship fosters a professional development that includes mentorship, resume writing, and training.

The Intern will use his/her technical skills, education, experience, and regional knowledge to:

• Coordinate general meetings and events to include registering participants, photographing events, assisting with technical and/or logistical support, entering data for monitoring and evaluation, and taking notes;

• Maintain and update the CCE calendar on the website; and

• Complete weekly check-in meetings and reflections with the CCE Deputy Coordinator.

Desired qualifications include:

• Current university student or recent graduate;

• Experience with civic engagement or community initiatives (preferred but not required);

• Strong verbal and written communication skills;

• Exceptional interpersonal skills; and

• Fluency in English (preferred but not required).
