Announcing Essay Competition Winners

On February 11, EWMI ACCESS partner the Network of Centers for Civic Engagement (NCCE) announced the winners of its essay competition for school students. The competition was held within the framework of the international campaign – 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence and invited school students from regions of Georgia to submit essays on the topic.

Thanks to an intensive outreach campaign, 144 school students from all over the country submitted their essays reflecting the problems of gender inequality and gender-based violence in their communities. An independent jury revealed the following winners: First prize – Aynur Akmedova, village of Zemo Sarali (Marneuli), 12th Grade. Second prize – Ani Tutisani, village of Laituri (Ozurgeti), 12th Grade. Third prize – Tamar Turadze, Batumi, 10th Grade.

The essays quickly gained popularity and were shared by a number of media portals and TV stations.
