The Media Development Foundation (MDF), with financial support from EWMI-ACCESS, is carrying out a project aimed at studying the use of public funds in media and its impact on media content and independence. The project collects data on funds allocated by government institutions to media organizations to report on their policies and activities, analyzes the trends in distribution of public funds in the media, and monitors several media outlets to study the impact of public funds on the media content.
The research findings will be published on the web-portal mediameter.ge. The web portal also features profiles of the main national and regional media outlets (current owners, dynamics of changes in ownership, political affiliations of media owners, advertisement revenues, financial declaration data, etc.) and consolidated media-related data and analysis produced by MDF and its partner organizations.
The Web-portal was launched on March, 7.
