Discussions of Peter Pomerantsev’s book “Nothing is True and Everything is Possible: The Surreal Heart of the New Russia”

With support from EWMI ACCESS, the non-governmental organization “Radarami” is organizing public discussions of the Georgian translation of the book “Nothing is True and Everything is Possible: The Surreal Heart of the New Russia” by Peter Pomerantsev.

How does the Russian propaganda work and how does it influence the world today? How is alternative reality created in Russia?  The author tries to address these and other questions in his book that was first released in 2014.

Peter Pomernatsev is a Kiev-born British journalist, author and TV producer. In early childhood Pomerantsev moved with his parents to West Germany, and thereafter to London and Munich. After studying at university he moved to Russia and worked as a producer for the television channel TNT. In November 2010 he returned to London. Starting in 2011 Pomerantsev wrote about Russia, with articles in Newsweek, The Atlantic Monthly and other magazines.

The non-governmental organization “Radarami” translated and published the book in Georgia in 2016. Mr. Pomerantsev visited Tbilisi to attend the book presentation.

Starting from April, 2017, the organization will travel to 20 cities of Georgia and hold public discussions around the key stories/tools featured in the book. The discussions will be led by prominent experts and scholars. Participants will get the book for free.

Schedule of the presentations in April:

10 April, 13:00 – Ozurgeti, Center for Civic Engagement

10 April, 16:00 – Batumi, bookshop “Tsignebi Batumshi”

11 April, 12:30 – Poti, Tourism Center

11 April, 16:30 – Zugdidi Municipality Central Library

12 April, 16:00 – Kutaisi, Office of the Pedagogue’s Union

The project is implemented with financial support from EWMI ACCESS. Apart from presentations and the public discussions, the “Radarami” will produce and distribute awareness-raising visual materials (video clips, infographics, etc.) to highlight the propaganda/disinformation tools exposed in the book.
