Regional Campaign to Identify Women Voter’s Priorities

Regional Campaign to Identify Women Voter’s Priorities

The Georgian regional civil society organizations (members of the Regional Civil Society Network – RSCN) are conducting a questionnaire survey among women in 10 regions of Georgia to identify their priority needs and concerns. Findings of the survey will afterwards be presented to election candidates and political parties to get them acquainted with the specific needs that local women face in their regions.

The Campaign will be held during September 27- 29 and will cover 19 cities. The CSO representatives will set-up banners with campaign slogan in the city centers and conduct the questionnaire survey.

Detailed schedule of the campaign (in Georgian) is available here – სამოქალაქო კამპანიის განრიგი – 27-29 სექტემბერი

Why women priorities matter?

Women represent majority of the Georgian population (52%), however their participation in the local government elections is low (only 40% of women took part in the elections in 2014). To increase women engagement in the electoral processes, it is essential that local government and election candidates are aware of and sensitive towards the women’s needs.

The campaign is implemented by the Regional Civil Society Network with support from the Civil Development Agency (CiDA) and EWMI ACCESS.
