Citizens Fund the Project to Preserve and Promote Oda Houses in Racha

WMI ACCESS supports an online crowd funding platform, which enables civic activists to register project ideas and start fundraising campaigns. If a campaign reaches at least half its goal through citizen’s donations, the rest will be entirely covered by CSO Orbeliani Georgia through EWMI ACCESS funding.
Currently there are 13 projects registered on the Platform. One of such projects secured 50% of the necessary amount and will get additional funding from Orbeliani Georgia. The project name is “Write the History of Oda Houses in Racha”, and it aims to preserve and promote the traditional Oda houses in Racha. To this purpose, the Racha community-based organization will take high-quality photos of historical Oda houses, prepare a bilingual (Georgian/English) e-journal with a short history of each house, and upload a map with thematic routes to attract visitors.

Over the past two decades, Racha was affected with population decrease more than any other region (37%). Many villages have only a few residents, and some are completely abandoned. This initiative will revitalize the unique culture of Oda houses and support their preservation, as well as attract visitors.

Visit the online platform https://orbelianimeti.ge/ if you wish to support other campaigns.
